The Officers at Fleetwood Synagogue

Here’s an introductory description of each of the dedicated officers at the Fleetwood Synagogue.

President

Joshua Schickman

Raised in Berkeley, California, Joshua Schickman moved to New York City for college. After graduation, he continued to live and work in New York, where he met his wife Rebecca.  They moved to Fleetwood in 2013, and have three children – Jacob and Rena and Judah .

Joshua chairs the Kitchen Committee, and serves on the Rabbinic Liaison, Ritual and Security Committees.

 

 

Treasurer

 

Gabe Kleinfeld

A lifelong New Yorker originally from the Bronx, Gabe Kleinfeld moved to Fleetwood in 2018. Since joining the community, he has worked on the shul’s Kitchen and Security Committees. In 2019, he became Co-Recording Secretary.

Gabe works as a transportation planner on city projects to improve mass transit and infrastructure. He has a background in public outreach and community engagement, and is dedicated to ensuring the public’s role in policy and government. He has worked in both the public and private sectors and he is now filling the role of Shul treasurer.

In his free time, Gabe enjoys trivia and all things Yankees.

 

 

Corresponding Secretary

 

Ilene Davison

Ilene Davison, a shul member since 1968, has been a board member of Fleetwood Synagogue for decades. Ilene has served as Recording Secretary, Vice President, was the first woman to serve as Co-President and is presently Corresponding Secretary.

Ilene is a member of the Rabbi Liaison Committee and the Finance Committee as well as being the Chair of the Cemetery Committee. In the past, Ilene has served as a significant fundraiser by chairing numerous receptions, producing journals for both members of the shul and public officials and has been and continues as the Chair of the Modernization Committee.  This committee has remodeled the main entrance, sanctuary, chapel, social room and created a children’s play corner.

Ilene is a private consultant and remediation expert for students, families, schools and professional groups focusing on preschool through 8th grade. Ilene established the learning centers of The Westchester Day School and The Solomon Schechter School of Westchester.
