Our Community
Fleetwood has a friendly and welcoming Modern Orthodox community in southern Westchester County, minutes from New York City. Ranked second among Westchester Magazine’s Best Places to Live, Fleetwood offers all the conveniences of city living set against the backdrop of the suburban, quiet, tree-lined streets that make Westchester the perfect place to raise a family. Fleetwood boasts costs of living that are a fraction of the other typical Westchester communities, and features various affordable residential options ranging from co-op and rental apartments to expansive Colonial and Tudor style homes. 4-bedroom homes can be purchased from approximately $500,000. Fleetwood stands out as a suburban Jewish community within walking distance of a Metro-North train station; the shul is a 5-minute walk from the station, where trains get to Grand Central in about a half-hour. New York City, and all its attractions, is a simple train ride away. We are also conveniently located off of I-87, and the Cross County, Hutchinson River, and Bronx River Parkways.
Fleetwood Synagogue offers Shabbat morning youth groups, daily minyanim, and weekly classes, attracting many new young families that have joined the community recently.
The community features an extensive eruv that contains much of the neighborhood. The original eruv has been expanded several times and may be enlarged to accommodate new residents.
Fleetwood’s proximity to Riverdale and New Rochelle affords residents kosher establishments and Mikvaot within easy reach, each less than 15 minutes away. Our community is also accessible to many Yeshivot, including SAR Academy, Westchester Day School, Stein Yeshiva, and Westchester Torah Academy.
Fleetwood provides all the retail options of a dense urban setting within a walkable 2-block radius of the shul. Without getting in a car, residents have access to multiple banks, an urgent care facility, pharmacies, a supermarket, dry cleaners, a day care, a liquor store, a post office, and florists. These businesses line the streets adjacent to the shul, ensuring what you need is available on foot. Fleetwood has been informally dubbed “Westchester’s Walkable Wonder.”
Fleetwood Synagogue offers a generous housing incentive program to invite new families interested in becoming active members of the shul and community. Families will be reimbursed a portion of their housing costs if commitments are met.
We invite you to visit our community and find out more about our warm, tight-knit shul.
